Description
Sanctuary is centrally located in the Coachella Valley in the prestigious City of Rancho Mirage. Built in 1960 by notable architect Donald Wexler, this home was recently listed on the Register of Historic Resources for being an outstanding example of Modern Desert architecture, one of 55 such designations within the City.
A true Mid-Century delight, Sanctuary has been thoughtfully updated with the best of modern day living, while preserving the aesthetic of Wexler’s vision. Guests are greeted by an oversized aluminum and glass cantilevered door, which ushers them into the homes foyer and main living areas. The extensive use of glass ushers the out of doors inside – from floor to ceiling, including the signature clerestory windows. Stunning views of the pool and spa, lush green scape, and mature palms beckon guests to relax and restore, in their own private “sanctuary”.
Generously scaled, the open concept living spaces encompass the formal living room, media room, kitchen, and dining area. The formal living room provides a great space for guests to enjoy quiet conversation or simply sit with a book and take in the view! Adjacent to the formal living room, the media room features a large Flat Screen TV with sectional sofa, ideal for a movie night or catching up on your favorite show.
The Chef inspired kitchen is suited for any and all Chef’s, even the most novice of them! Featuring stunning custom zebrawood cabinetry and a suite of appliances from Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Miele – this kitchen is a true showpiece, yet designed to be a place to inspire the most creative culinary delights! The kitchen is also anchored by a unique two-sided stone fireplace, which connects the kitchen with the dining and living areas.
Sanctuary features three guest quarters, including two Master Suites. The first Master Suite features a spacious layout with Queen sized bed, Flat Screen TV and large en-suite bathroom with dual vanities, free standing soaking tub with adjacent private patio, step-in tile shower, and water closet. The Master Suite also offers direct access to the pool patio area via sliding glass door. The Second Master Suite features a Queen sized bed and en-suite bathroom with single vanity and tub/shower combination. The Third Guest Quarters also features a Queen sized bed and shares the hall bathroom with single vanity and natural rock/glass shower.
The Desert principle of bringing the best of indoor living to the outdoors is exemplified at Sanctuary. The meticulously landscaped grounds flank the large custom pool and spa, which feature an oversized tanning shelf, wide steps into the pool (perfect for lounging), and integrated spa. Adjacent to the pool, a large rock has been transformed into a fire feature with three additional rocks providing perfect seating for fireside conversation. Guests can also choose to relax on one of the multiple chaise lounges, with free-standing umbrellas providing shade as needed; or on the custom outdoor living room set which features a sofa and two arm chairs. Regardless of where guests choose to be, they will be enveloped by their surroundings and find their “sanctuary”.
Sanctuary is conveniently located within the heart of the Coachella Valley, providing easy access to all Desert Cities including Palm Springs, Palm Desert and East Valley attractions. Once you arrive, there is that chance you may never want to leave – it is your vacation retreat, your Sanctuary!

Important items to remember: Any violation of the house rules and your signed contract will result in a fine or eviction.
• NO OUTDOOR MUSIC/NOISE. The City of Rancho Mirage has very strict regulations about noise/music. No outdoor music is allowed and a fine of $1,500 will be charged directly to the guests.
• PETS. The property is pet friendly, a non-refundable $250 pet fee will be charged. If pet fur is found in the pool filters a fine of $1,500 will be charged.
• NO SMOKING. All our properties have a no smoking policy. Smoking will result in a $1,500 fine.
• NO PARTIES: We do not allow parties/events at this property, please respect occupancy limits and noise ordinance.
• HOMES HAVE STRICT OCCUPANCY LIMITS. Over occupying the home will result in fines and/or eviction.
• CHECK-IN: The City of Rancho Mirage requires a copy of an ID prior check-in.
• MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT. The City of Rancho Mirage requires signer to be 30 years of age.
• CHARGES FOR VIOLATIONS of house rules are strictly enforced.
